THIS WEEK AT HICKS

It's Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week at Hicks!
We are grateful to all of the families for your support in helping our teachers feel the love this week! See below for today's reveal of the teachers' lounge (stocked with treats from YOU!) as we throw it back to the 90's for this celebration!

Lots more to come this week - follow us on social media and watch Hump Day Happenings (Wednesday's email) for more.

Wednesday:

  • Dress in your best 90's looks- we look forward to seeing our Huskies lookin' FLY!

The rest of the month details you can find on Husky Happenings!

Husky Happenings

The PTO has daily surprises for our staff and teachers this week - and we invite YOU to get in on the action!

As we combine our staff and teacher celebration - we encourage you to celebrate ANY staff member that you want to recognize! Teachers' Aides, Admin, Student Teachers... ask your Husky who they love interacting with at school - and have them bring in a note for that person on Wednesday as part the celebration! You're welcome to send a small gift too - of course ALL gifts are optional!

We're working to keep the lounge stocked with goodies - and we'll gratefully accept donations all week! You can choose something from the list - or go off script and just bring in a box of whatever favorite snack or drink you want to share!

We have themed "gift" days to celebrate your teacher (see below) if you're looking for inspiration. These gifts are completely optional - participate at any level you like! And of course these are just suggestions - you can go off-script if you prefer. :)

Brought to you by the PTO...
PBIS Pizza Party

Last Friday was our final PBIS party of the school year! These parties are hosted 3x/year by the PTO as a reward for students earning "Husky Points" in PBIS. Students in grades K-5 can use their points to join for a special pizza lunch with Mrs. Fitch & Mrs. Vela... BINGO and of course... PRIZES! We had such a fun group of students join for this finale - and we're so grateful to the parent volunteers who make it happen!

Robotics at WORLDS!

The Mecha Masters team traveled to St. Louis to compete on the world stage—and what an incredible journey it was! Across 3 action-packed days, the team competed in 10 intense matches against 82 teams from around the globe.

With teams from China, Portugal, India, and countries far and wide... the Mecha Masters learned that even when teams don't speak the same language, they ALL spoke robotics. Through teamwork, innovation, and a shared love of engineering, connections were made that went far beyond words.

The competition was fierce right down to the very end. After their final match, Mecha Masters climbed into the Top 20—an amazing accomplishment! In the final moments, another team edged ahead by just 8 points, placing the Mecha Masters at 22nd overall.

You read that right... 22nd out of 82 teams in the WORLD! These boys showed perseverance, teamwork, and true sportsmanship every step of the way. They represented our school and community with pride, and we couldn’t be more proud.

Congratulations Mecha Masters - and congratulations and HUGE thanks to HCE's Robotics Coach - the incredible Mrs. Cunningham! Way to go HCE Robotics!! You make us so proud!!!
