WHAT WE DO

The PTO funds programs and opportunities for students that are NOT funded by the state or district. The PTO ALSO provides the volunteer support and management for many school enrichment programs.

Staff/Teacher Salary Support

- Teacher's Aides (specifically funding Reading Intervention Specialists) 

- P.E. Program (funding P.E. Teacher and Noon Duty staff) 

 

Classroom Supplies and Materials

- Friday Folders

- Library Books

- Paper and copier materials

- Teacher Classroom Allowances (allowing EVERY teacher to purchase supplies specific to their class) 

- Playground Equipment

- Swank Licensing (movie license for the school to be able to show movies) 

- Smore app (the newsletter platform the school uses to send "Husky Howl") 

- Binder Reminders (Grades 4-5) 

 

Student Education and Programs

- Field Trip expense support for all grades

- Student iPad Software (Novel Effect, Newsela, Seesaw, Brainpop, PBIS Rewards, Raz Kids) 

- All-school assemblies (2x/year) 

- Lunar New Year Celebration 

- Sabrina Lentini Music Assemblies - 4x/year (Grades TK-1) 

- Art Masters Program (Grades K-5) 

- Walk Through California (4th Grade) 

- Walk through American Revolution (5th Grade)

- Outdoor Ed program support and bus funding (5th Grade)

 

Family & Parent Events

- Donuts with Loved Ones

- Dances (Girls Dance and Boys Dance) 

- Bingo

- Night at the Book Fair

- Coffee with Admin meetings

- PTO "Moms' Nights"

 

Specialty Programs

- Scholastic Book Fair

- PBIS Store support and hosted Husky Pizza Parties (Grades K-5) 

- Talent Show (Grades K-5) 

- Wednesday After School Programs (Grades 1-5) 

- Musical Theater (Grades 3-5) 

- Kids Run the OC Program (aka "Run Club) (Grades 3-5) 

- Tournament of Champions Sports: Volleyball, Flag Football, Basketball and Soccer (Grades 3-5)   

- Robotics Team (Grades 4-5) 

- Intra-district sports - Volleyball (Grade 5) 

- 5th Grade Events (Puberty Talks, DARE, Promotion) 

 

Communication to families

- Social media channels: follow us on Facebook and Instagram

- Website updated with relevant information (including our Husky Happenings page) 

- 2 weekly Newsletters: Tails from the Bark Side every Monday and Hump Day Happenings every Wednesday

- Hard Copy monthly calendar (watch for this in your Friday Folder!) 

 

Programs that are specific to grade levels are identified above. If there's no grade level listed - it means that program/event is for ALL grade levels! 

How to support

The PTO is funded through individual donations from families and community support.

1) Become a MEMBER of the PTO! 

• As a member of the PTO, you'll be supporting all of the incredible programs the PTO offers which WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE without the support of our HCE families.
• Visit our membership page to learn more about the benefits of being a member! 

2) Check if your employer offers MATCHING GIFTS.

This can make your donation go twice as far! Did you submit your matching gift forms? Let us know at treasurer@hickscanyon.org so we can be sure to watch for it! 

 

3) Become a sponsor!
