Wednesday After School programs are offered for students in grades 1-5. 

Wednesdays are "early dismissal days" at Hicks - and these programs offer families a chance to try a new skill or sport, while extending the school day a bit! 

ALL classes start at 1:30 PM and end at 2:35 PM. 

Sessions are hosted 4x/year. Each session is 9 classes - except for session 1.. which is 8 classes.

Registration open dates and deadlines for each session are listed below. 

Some classes WILL sell out - please register early to avoid disappointment! Late adds will absolutely NOT be accepted.

Class offerings vary each session and are announced 1 month prior to registration for each session. We do have some classes that are offered in all 4 sessions (including the Art program, Chess and Basketball) - but some classes are only hosted for 1 or 2 sessions. If you see something you want to try - be sure to register early once registration opens - classes DO sell out!

Mini-Game Coders: Retro Remix - Remix arcade classics by coding your own Pong, Snake, or Frogger using Lando’s Scratch-based iPad app. Add boss battles, power-ups, and extra levels with teachers guiding just-right challenges so no one gets stuck or bored. Playtest with friends to see who can beat your game, then take home a link to keep coding after class. (Grades 1-3 only) 

Art Class with Cybele Rowe - She's back! We're so grateful to have Cybele back for another year at Hicks, offering her art class filled with creativity and fun! Students work with ceramics, drawing, painting, mixed-media art and more in this student favorite program. (Grades 1-5... max 40 students)

Pay in advance - and receive a $75 discount off the whole year! 9-week sessions are normally $250/session... and this 8-week session is $225. Get all 4 sessions for $900 instead of $975. Public Speaking - Gain confidence. poise, and communication skills. A perfect class to reduce that stage fright before our Musical Theater tryouts! (Grades 3-5 only... max 20 students) 

Chess - Checkmate! From beginner to budding grandmaster - this class keeps our Huskies thinking! (Grades 1-5... max 38 students ) 

Basketball - This class is a slam dunk!  (Grades 1-5... max 25 students) 

Soccer -  GOOOOOAAAL! Let's channel Spain's World Cup energy into our Huskies in this soccer session (perfect for students considering joining our Harvest Cup team too!) (Grades 1-5... max 25 students) 

Cooking Class - Get ready for your mini Chef to wow you with their weekly creations. This class sells out within minutes each session... make sure your alarm is set and you are ready when the time comes! (Grades 1-5... max 16 students) 

Rocketry: Space Exploration for Aspiring Astronauts- This interactive class introduces students to the exciting world of rocketry and space exploration. Through engaging design challenges and experiments, students will build rockets, create payloads, and explore the principles of propulsion, aerodynamics, and space technology. (Grades 1-3) 

Dance/Cheer - LET'S GO HCE! This high-energy class has kids learning cheers, dance routines and choreography... and concludes with a performance at a school pep-assembly - and MAY include opportunities to cheer at HCE sports events! (Grades 1-5 ... max 35 students)
*Please note that the pep assembly performance is outdoors. We do our best to allow the team to perform... but depending on the school's assembly schedule or the weather, sometimes this is not possible. Please help set these expectations for your cheerleader!  

Minecraft Code Lab - Transform Minecraft into a world of your own imagination! Students learn how to create custom mods, invent powerful tools, design new creatures, build magical abilities, and modify gameplay using beginner-friendly coding tools. Through hands-on coding and game design projects, students discover how real game developers bring ideas to life while strengthening programming, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Perfect for Minecraft fans who want to become creators, not just players. (Grades 4-5 only... max 20 students)
