TEAM KIDS PROGRAM GOING ON NOW
What is Team Kids?
Team Kids is a national school-based, student-led youth leadership program bringing together students with on-duty police officers, firefighters, mentors, and Team Kids local university intern volunteers.
Who is involved?
4th and 5th grade students who wish to participate on the leadership team meet weekly (during their school lunch) to plan the weekly school-wide challenges and to vote on the local charity they want to support with the finale carnival. They then promote the weekly challenges to support 3 local charities - one each week. All of the school is encouraged to support the challenges - bringing in donations as described.
What is the Carnival?
On the last week of the program, Team Kids hosts a carnival during lunch period (on December 12th). The 4th & 5th graders on the Team Kids leadership team host booths with homemade games - and students from 1st grade and up* join to play during their lunch period! The proceeds benefit a local charity of the leadership team's choosing. Check out photos from last year's event!
About the Carnival:
- EVERY student (grades 1-5) receives 5 free tickets to play games. You do NOT need to purchase tickets to have your student participate.
- Students can purchase additional tickets for 25 cents each... or 5 for $1.00. These will be on sale at lunch on Wednesday, December 10th.
- We do NOT recommend purchasing more than $2.00 in tickets... students will only have so much time to visit the booths during lunch - this is plenty of tickets. :)
*How come TK and Kinder don't attend the carnival? While we have tried this in the past, there are both logistical and other reasons it doesn't work out. Team Kids and HCE TK and Kinder teachers have all agreed that it's best to host with 1st grade and up. :)
