HCE PTO and Top Hat 8 Repertory are excited to partner again for our Musical Theater Event in 2026/2027!
Registration for our First CAST is closed! We are currently forming our interest list to create TWO CASTS!
1) Read ALL of the details below ("About the Musical Theater Program") about what being in the musical involves.
2) Read the Musical Theater Parent Agreement form. Make sure this is something you feel comfortable with before proceeding!
3) Find the statement that best describes your situation - and complete the appropriate step(s):
- My student is in Grade 3, 4 or 5:
a) Complete this interest list. If we have enough students to make a 2nd cast - you will have the chance to officially register then. - My student is in Grade 1 or 2 - and we're hoping there's space available!
a) Complete this interest list. We will keep you posted once we know if space is available.
4) Have more than 1 student who is interested? Complete a form/registration for EACH student (do not include both students on 1 interest form).
About the Musical Theater Program:
- The registration fee for this program is $335. This fee is nonrefundable even if your student decides the program is not for them after the program starts.
- Parent participant volunteer hours ARE required to have your student participate (a minimum of one shift during the course of the "season").
- ALL students who register are cast in the show. There are no "cuts." The auditions are so that the Directors can cast students in roles... not to determine if a child makes the show. If you register and pay the fee - your student IS in the show.
- Cast members must be available for ALL of the following dates below. We are not able to accommodate late arrivals or early dismissal for rehearsals or performances. More than 2 consecutive missed rehearsals are grounds for recasting.
- Behavior expectations apply for all students. Please see below for additional information on behavior expectations.
- Have a 1st grader who is interested in participating? Please note that 1st grade participation in the musical (if space is available) is on a TRIAL year. The PTO and musical theater team will evaluate the experience before determining whether first-grade participation will continue in future years. Because this is a pilot year, the program may make reasonable adjustments to the first-grade participation process as needed.
- Scholarships: We will have a LIMITED number of PARTIAL scholarships available for this program (sponsored by the PTO). Assistance of up to $250/student will be considered. (Please note, assistance is NOT guaranteed. Scholarship amounts are determined by school administrators- NOT by the PTO).

Auditions: Wednesday, October 14, 1:30pm – 3:30pm (If you are in a "Session 1 Wednesday After School Program... this is the last day of that session - you will need to skip the last session to attend the audition)
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, October 21 – January 13, 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Photo Shoot: Tuesday, January 12, 3:00pm – 5:00pm OR Thursday, January 13, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Tech Rehearsals:

School Assembly: Thursday, January 21, 8:15am – 11:30am

Behavior Expectations:
- Your student must be able to participate in a structured group rehearsal environment. This includes listening to and following adult directions, remaining with the group, participating appropriately, and responding to redirection.
- Your student should be able to participate with age-appropriate independence. This includes managing basic personal needs and transitions without requiring continuous one-on-one adult assistance.
- Rehearsals are approximately two hours long. While rehearsals occur mainly on an early-release days (Wednesday), and occasionally on Tuesday/Thursday, my child must be able to participate safely and appropriately for the duration of rehearsal.
- Behavioral expectations apply throughout the program. If my child's behavior repeatedly disrupts rehearsals, creates a safety concern, or requires a level of individual supervision that the program cannot reasonably provide, I will be contacted to discuss whether continued participation is appropriate.

What a weekend!
FOUR shows - TWO casts - HUNDREDS of cheering fans!
Our Husky actors absolutely owned the stage - singing, dancing and entertaining families with contagious energy! Congratulations to all of our actors - and a huge thank you to the families for helping make this production such a success. We also want to thank Lolo's Sweet Creations for the cookies, and the Robotics team (led by Mrs. Cunningham) for providing the concessions, flowers and grams!
And of course - this production could not exist without Mrs. Policare taking the lead - and our amazing PTO Musical Theater committee coordinating all of the efforts behind the scenes! Thank you all for your time, commitment and dedication to making the Musical Theater Program such a success!
THE LITTLE MERMAID
December 7 & 8, 2024
More than 75 Huskies took to the stage in the PTO's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr!
After weeks of practice, students in 2 separate casts put on 4 amazing performances for parents and guests (plus two more in school!). The singing, dancing and acting left audiences literally cheering for more - not to mention the elaborate set design transforming the MPR into an underwater wonderland!
Thank you to all the parent volunteers who made it happen, with very special thanks to our dedicated Musical Theater Committee and Mrs. Policare - who truly made us feel part of their world!!
